Erich Wieland, PhD
Orcid: 0000-0003-3094-0100
Erich joined CWL solutions as cofounder in May 2022 after his retirement from the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI, Switzerland). With nearly 28 years dedicated service at PSI, his research focused on geochemical processes relevant to the cementitious near field of a deep geological repository, specifically on the formation of colloidal material, the uptake of radionuclides by cementitious materials, the long-term behaviour of waste materials and their interaction with the engineered barrier. He has a degree in natural sciences from ETH Zürich (Switzerland). He made his PhD in environmental sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag, Switzerland) with a degree from ETH Zürich. Between 1987 and 1993 he was a postdoctoral researcher at Eawag and Stanford University (USA). Erich is based in Zürich, Switzerland.

Orcid: 0009-0006-6292-6708
Luc joined CWL solutions as cofounder in May 2022. During the almost 35 years working at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI, Switzerland), his research focused on geochemical processes relevant to the argillaceous near and far field of a deep geological repository, specifically on the formation of soluble radionuclide-organic complexes, and the diffusion retention of radionuclides in compacted bentonite and argillaceous host rocks. He has a degree in bioengineering from the KU Leuven (University of Louvain, Belgium). He made his PhD in agricultural sciences at ITAL (Institute for the Application of Atomic energy in Agriculture, Wageningen) with a degree from KU Leuven (Belgium). Between 1986 and 1989 he was a postdoctoral researcher at PSI. Luc is based in Aargau, Switzerland.
luc.vanloon@cwlsolutions.chYanhua Chen, PhD
Yanhua joined CWL solutions as cofounder in May 2022. She is now a professional editor for scientific publishing. Yanhua completed her PhD at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI, Switzerland) and the University of Bern. She then did a postdoc at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA, Japan) and moved back to Switzerland for the Marie-Curie Fellowship. Her research over the past years focused on the geochemistry relevant to the geological disposal of radioactive waste. She received her master's degree in environmental engineering from ETH Zürich (Switzerland), where she focused on water resource management and soil protection. Yanhua is based in Shanghai, China.
